Let’s celebrate 20 years in the art world! While it is true that my journey in art began thanks to Sunday outings to museums with my mother, it was in 2003 when everything took an unexpected turn. A poster hanging in one of the university hallways changed my life forever. That poster called for participation in a prestigious international art contest. I decided to take on the challenge… the rest is history and Op Art!
UNIVERSITY STUDIES

Constant Learning

My journey in art began as a self-taught exploration while delving into the fascinating world of science.

In 2009, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Bioanalysis from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in Caracas, Venezuela. This experience provided me with a solid scientific foundation and a deep understanding of research and analysis.

Later, I felt the need to deepen my knowledge and explore other areas of interest.

In 2014, I immersed myself in the study of Postcontemporary and Digital Art at the Superior Institute of Art (I|Art) in Madrid, Spain. This specialization merged my passion for creativity, artistic expression, and technological advancements.

In 2016, I expanded my knowledge of art by studying Art Market at the Distance University of Madrid (UDIMA). This education gave me a broad perspective on the economic and commercial aspects of the art world.

In 2019, I complemented my education with a study in Art History at the National University of Distance Education (UNED), also in Madrid, Spain. This specialization allowed me to explore different artistic movements throughout history and deepen my understanding of the cultural context in which artworks are developed.

Op Art / Optical Art

Optical Art, also known as Op Art, is an artistic movement that focuses on the composition of purely optical phenomena to create sensations of movement on a two-dimensional surface, deceiving the human eye through optical illusions. It utilizes repetitive structures with a clear order.
In contrast to other rational tendencies, Op Art is rooted in rigorous scientific principles to generate unprecedented visual effects. It is an impersonal and technical form of art, sometimes allowing room for spectators to modify the presented configuration.

Op Art works interact with viewers by eliciting a sensation of virtual movement through optical illusion effects. This situation triggers dynamic eye responses and evokes certain psychological reactions due to their surprising appearance.

Digital Art

Digital art has become a discipline that groups all those artistic manifestations carried out with a computer. By definition, these works of art must have been elaborated by digital means.

Digital art combines to a large extent art, science and technology. The roots of digital art are to be found in mathematics and computer science. Doesn’t this remind us of the Renaissance era, when Leonardo Da Vinci, in addition to being an artist, was an inventor, Michelangelo, an engineer, and Galileo Galilei, on the other hand, was also an artist? This renewed combination broadens horizons and offers interesting stimuli.

For a work of art it is not decisive which technical means have been used; what really matters is that the result is convincing, both from the point of view of its content and its aesthetics.

Giclée – Digigraphie

Of French origin, the word Giclée derives from the verb gicler, which means ‘to spray.’ Nowadays, we use this term to describe a process in which ink is deposited onto the surface of the artist’s preferred medium.

In the late 1970s, Iris pioneered this technique with its 4-color inkjet printers. Today, Giclée is created using advanced 12-color professional inkjet printers, capable of precisely spraying an average of 5 million microscopic ink droplets per second.

Museums, galleries, collectors, and art publishers worldwide exhibit, market, and treasure works printed with this technology. Some pieces have achieved high prices at auctions, solidifying the status of Giclée as a valued and enduring artistic medium.

Giclée is widely regarded as the finest technique in the world for bringing digital artwork to life.
